In 2016, Chef Edmund Deleuil and his wife Heidi celebrated 30 years of owning Heidelberg, now a local landmark, which specializes in German and continental cuisine. Deleuil has been designated a master chef by the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, the international gourmet society, and The Heidelberg Restaurant has been awarded Quality Status by Zagat.
Growing up in the Alps exposed Eddie to great culture, food, and music. After living in Kitzbuehel, Austria, and Germany, Eddie graduated from the Austrian Trade Academy in 1985 and worked for top restaurants such as Kaefer in Munich and Stangalm in Kitzbuehel. Shortly after, the couple moved to Cocoa Beach. In 1986 they purchased the Heidelberg.
Heidi’s mother had been a previous owner of another Heidelberg in Cocoa Beach. A family tradition was preserved by buying the current Heidelberg from the Johnson family in 1986. The Heidelberg Restaurant has elevated itself over the years to a restaurant recognized by La Chaine des Rotisseurs as one of the very best, while Heidi’s Jazz Club has been recognized by Downbeat magazine as one of the world’s best jazz clubs.
Heidelberg has a very cozy, relaxing atmosphere and takes pride in displaying the art of local artists such as Wayne Coombs, Brian Dowdal, Sooz Molnar, and Kurt Zimmerman.
